Taipa Village Mural at Travessa da Boa Vista Reflects Continental Flair
In cooperation with the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macau SAR, Taipa Village Cultural Association invited two young Macau artists Vitorino Vong and Jane Ieng to beautify the stairs at Travessa da Boa Vista, which is nearby Rua Direita Carlos Eugénio and Iec Long Firework Factory. The mural depicts the colourful colonial houses in southern European style, which integrate perfectly with the small neighbouring houses, thus reflecting the peace and harmony that characterizes the cultural charm of Macau.
Different from other outdoor murals which are normally painted on the exterior walls of the buildings, this mural creates a three dimensional impression by utilising the height and steepness of the stairs, overcoming the limitations of a flat surface. A lively and adorable small cat is painted on the stone step, complementing with the leisure atmosphere of this relaxing village.
Graduated from the Macau Polytechnic Institute with a bachelor degree in visual arts, Vitorino and Jane are talented in realistic drawing style. Vitorino began to take part in graffiti creations during his university period.  His works were mainly inspired by his personal interest and different encounters. Dedicated in realistic drawing style, Jane’s works are mostly inspired by her daily life and occurrences which boost her creations in human portraits and pets.  Her scope of works include sculptures, sketches, illustrations and paintings.
